South Koreans, Russians snapping up Indigenous art
Source: ABC

Indigenous art has been cited as a key contributor to the Northern Territory's export growth.

Austrade chief economist Tim Harcourt says the Territory is the second highest exporter per capita behind Western Australia

He says Indigenous art sales have increased in the emerging markets of South Korea and Russia.

"It's just become the big thing whether you go to Warsaw or Moscow or Seoul in Korea," he said.

"Indigenous art is what art collectors want and countries with sort of middle class populations are now buying art, are really interested in it and I was just in a sell out show in Moscow where Indigenous art from the Territory, particularly from the Utopia region in central Australia, was the big seller."
